Abu Al-Maaty: Arab region’s total fertilizers production amounted 100 million ton in 2015

Chemist Saad Abu Al-Maaty, Chairman of Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), and Chairman of Abu Qir Fertilizers Company (AFC) stated, fertilizer industry revenues have great importance for the economies of Arab countries which produce and export fertilizers and their raw materials.

Abu Al-Maaty added that fertilizer revenues support the economic and social development in the producing countries as the total production of fertilizers and their raw materials in Arab region exceeded 100 million tons in 2015 and the exports exceeded 58 million tons. Abu Al-Maaty’s statements came within a press conference on Thursday to announce the international forum of fertilizers industry, hosted by Cairo, from the period 31th January to 2nd February.

Abu Al-Maaty clarified that the Arab Fertilizers Sector has consolidated successfully its position in the global market due to the abundant raw materials including the Natural Gas, Phosphate, and Potassium. Also, Abu Al-Maaty referred that the share of the Arab region of the global stock of Gas is 30 percent, and about 70 percent of Phosphate rock stocks. Further, The Arab world has acquired about 35 percent of Global Urea market, 64 percent of Phosphate rock trade, about 42 percent of triple Super Phosphate, 58 percent of Phosphoric Acid, 38 percent of Diammonium phosphate (DAP), 7 percent of Potassium, 30 percent of global exports of Sulfur.
