The law issued by Turkish President  Recep  Tayyip  Erdogan  restricting the use of internet in Turkey reminds us of someone committing suicide on the railways,  waiting for the speeding train.

By this law, Erdogan  authorizes the Turkish communications authority to access and block internet websites without a court decision.  The Turkish president warned that Turkey will server ties with rating agencies .   Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch, accusing them of political motives in their assessments of Turkish economy,  elaborating that they did not take into consideration improvements  that followed  the Turkish presidential elections.

This decision surprised the European Commission;  which considers the newly enacted law unpleasant. Spokesman of  US Department of State Marie Harf wondered about issuing such a decision without a resolution from the court concerned.  The Turkish government warned about the possibility of restricting surfing of social websites.  I believe that Erdogan’s  decision emanates from his fear of the recurrence of another Jezy Park incident.

Erdogan is no more no one winning card not for his allies, and definitely not for Arab states and Israel one can speculate that Erdogan is becoming the era’s Don Quixote.
