US President Barack Obama meets Chinese President Xi Jinping in California for talks on trade disputes, tensions caused by North Korea,.  greenhouse gas emissions and allegations of Chinese cyber spying, a meeting that is really seen as an attempt to improve relations between the two countries.

It seems that Obama has started to change his previous policy against China, a policy that was based on restricting China’s progress at the global arena.

China was also mainly concerned in the past of how to limit growing US presence in Asia and remove any hurdle meant to block its economic growth as China believes it is totally qualified to compete with the US over hegemony at the Asian as well as the world arena.

Putting into consideration that China is a noteworthy country that never takes any decision until after thorough studies and researches, the US will start adopting a new policy to gain China’s confidence.

I think the meeting between the Chinese and US powers is finally on time to discuss major issues and to come up with a “declaration of principles” that will set the stage for better cooperation and upgrade their partnership.

We will wait and to see the outcome of the Obama-Xi meeting, especially as regards greenhouse gas emissions, euro zone and the Chinese stance towards Taiwan and Tibet.

Regardless of the outcome of the meeting, I think competition between the two countries will continue as well as lack of confidence, especially as China seems leading the Asian countries and speaking in their name, may be in an indirect way, a move that forced the US to hold dialogue With China.
