ANSAmed: The cooperation between Italy and Tunisia is as solid as ever in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. A confirmation of this came from the 12th edition of Siamap, the international trade fair of agriculture, agriculture machinery and fisheries, the main event of the sector in the Mediterranean, which just ended in Tunis. Along with the significant presence of Italian operators there was a significant participation of many Sicilian entrepreneurs and the signing of several agreements. Twinning agreements between Italy and Tunisia were signed to support women in the agricultural sector and young beekeepers to help them promote their products and commercialize them. The project will enable to unify efforts by Tunisian and Italian entrepreneurs to guarantee high-quality products that can be traced and respect European standards so they can be competitive and satisfy demand coming from foreign markets.

The two conventions signed by Utap (UnionTunisienne de l’Agriculture et de la Peche) and the observatory Servagri (project of trans-border cooperation ENPI CBC MED funded by the EU), respectively establish the twinning between Sicilian and Italian beekeepers and women farmers from the two countries to work together for development, and the improvement of the legal framework and quality of life of employees.

Servagri is an Italian-Tunisian observatory operating in agriculture to carry out pilot projects in organic farming, guarantee the security and quality of some food products in the respect of sustainable development in Tunisia and Sicily and with the final aim of enabling the two countries to be innovative and competitive in the international market with a strategy that does not pursue the competition between Sicily and Tunisia but economic agreements.
