Ministry of Petroleum signs $324m for Ain Sukhna investment

Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced signing a contract for the establishment of a station for circulation of petroleum products in Ain Sukhna with 324-million-dollar investments.

This project includes establishing a 202-km-long seaport that runs 15 to 19 meters deep to host liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker ships with loads up to 216 thousand square meter; Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) vessel with 170-thousand-square-meter cargo; and mazot (liquefied fuel) and gas stove tankers.

Engineer ‘Tarek El-Molla”, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said that the project includes as well the implementation of a number of warehouses for the circulation of mazot and gas stove. The project will be carried out on two phases; the first is about circulation of LNG which is due to be operational during the first quarter of the year 2017; while the second phase is about the circulation of mazot and gas stove and is due to be operational during the second quarter of the year 2018.

Minister ‘’El-Molla’’ has assured that a number of projects are being currently carried out to complete the basic structure of the petroleum products transportation and circulation under the strategy of the Ministry to secure the petroleum products and LNG provisions, on top of all, and to work on transforming Egypt to a regional energy hub.

The contract of the establishment of a station for circulation of petroleum products was signed by Engineer “Khalid Abdel Badei”, Chairman of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS); and Engineer “Khaled Saleh”, Chairman of Sumed Company; in the presence of Engineer “Mohammed Taher’’, First Undersecretary of Ministry of Petroleum.
