Launching a fish farming project next October

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has spoken highly of the exerted efforts of Suez Canal Authority, both at the level of institutional development or expansion of the authority›s activities, as well as its contribution to community services in the canal cities.

El-Sisi has stressed on, during his meeting yesterday with Mohab Memish, Vice admiral and head of the Suez Canal Authority, the importance of continuing these efforts and the process of developing the Suez Canal Authority, as the canal is considered as a vital global facility which enhances Egypt›s strategic location and maximises the added value of this site. Moreover, Suez Canal has significantly contributed to the enrichment of international trade movement and marine navigation, he added.

Presidential spokesman ambassador Alaa Youssef said that the Vice admiral, Memish, presented the workflow of Suez Canal Authority and development efforts which aim at improving the canal performance, as well as the advancement of surrounding areas. The authority has announced 2016 as the year to develop its subsidiary companies. A comprehensive plan has been developed to study the situation of those companies in order to develop them in terms of equipment, machinery and employee training, as well as updating marketing policies, and researching the establishment of companies and shipyards joint with specialised international companies, thereby contributing to increased profit rates and maintaining its role in community development.

Presidential spokesman added, Memish presented during the meeting the exerted efforts to increase fairway efficiency of Suez Canal in order to keep up with current developments in maritime transport and international trade movement, either in terms of affording large-draft giant ships or maintenance of the canal watercourse navigation aids systems, and upgrading rescue system, which aims at dealing with any incidents that may arise in the canal waterway.

Presidential spokesman said, El-Sisi praised, during the meeting, Suez Canal Authority’s efforts and its contribution to lift the sunken ships from Alexandria port.

Similarly, Memish has presented, during the meeting, a fish farming project proposed by Suez Canal Authority; the project involves 4 thousand basins of fish farms, along with their services. It will also include a veterinary unit, laboratory analysis and researches, a training centre for project staff and a factory for the production of fish feed, in addition to a factory for assorting, loading and packing. Vice admiral, Memish, explained that the first phase of the project, which includes 600 basins, will be opened in October. The Presidential spokesman added that the head of Suez Canal Authority presented developments in building El Raswa ferry to link the cities of Port Fouad and Port Said with a total length of approximately 477 meters.

Memish also introduced the Suez Canal Authority’s efforts in community development in the canal cities, whereas the authority contributes to establish three hospitals in Suez and Port Said, providing 172 beds per hospital as for the beginning, and a hospital in Ismailia with 700 beds as a second stage.  In addition, the authority aims at establishing a centre of viruses’ treatment which helps in the treatment of a large proportion of viruses infected cases of the canal cities citizens.
