There is no doubt that the tourism sector in Egypt, has been severely affected following, the Russian metro jet in Sinai; several European countries, including Russia and Britain,  banned direct flights to the Red Sea; among them were German airlines, which in November of 2015 suspended all direct flights to the Red Sea resort city.  Since that time Egyptian officials have been exerting a lot of effort to increase security measures at the Egyptian international airport.A source in Lufthansa, informed MEO that the coming winter season will witness the resume of German flights to Hurghada, Red Sea. The winter season, starts in October. The Swiss airlines, which falls under the umbrella of Lufthansa, will resume its flights to the Red Sea at the beginning of the winter season.

Other media sources, Youm7 and Sada El Balad News, announced that flights would be resumed starting November 2016. Flights are expected to be taking off on the Mondays of each week, from Munich and Dusseldorf.

Many officials stated that this resume, will have a positive impact on the tourism sector in Egypt; and many expect that this is just the first move and this first one will influence the British and the Russian airlines.
