Egyptian entrepreneurs continuous effort can be traced in various fields within the Egyptian society; one of the most significant fields in need for developmental initiatives is the field of education.

Co founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Tutorama , Omar Khashaba, founded his startup , as the first high quality online platform for tutoring in Egypt. Tutorama aims to  present a rich database which comprises the needed information about tutors in various educational fields in Egypt; indicating the area of residences in order to facilitate the process of choosing the needed tutor.  Classified according to their skills, these “top quality tutors” provide lessons at a reasonable  rate, and will ultimately allow students to create tutor pools for several students to share the cost.  In other words Tutorama, will help as a bridge between parents and tutors in Egypt.

The first competitive advantage of Tutorama is that it presents the database of highly qualified fresh graduate tutors. So the project does not only help Egyptian parents to find the good tutor, but it also helps fresh graduates to find jobs.

The second competitive advantage of Tutorama is the pricing. The online platform is dedicated to set a competitive price for tutoring in order to compete  with the high prices of regular tutors in Egypt.

Having received  his master’s degree from abroad, Omar Khashaba conducted an indepth study for the Egyptian market; the online platform was only launched for a pilot group.  The official launch of Tutorama  will take place this month.

Omar Khashaba recently talked about his project at the Conference Introducing Egypt’s Start-ups and the YEEL Network to the German-Egyptian Business Community, organised by the German Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, in November 2016. Khashaba said: “We established Tutorama after conducting a good market research for the Egyptian market; our aim is to bridge the gab between parents and highly qualified  fresh graduate tutors.   We haven’t launched the version open to the public, but users can go on the site and they will be registered on a waitlist. After the launch, expected to be at the end of the year, users will be able to select from a list of tutors and schedule sessions with them according to the subject,” Omar explains.

With a 150LE per hour rate, the platform allows for home-based sessions or at public places, in pre-approved locations. Ultimately, the service will allow students to create a tutor pool, forming a group to distribute the cost.

It is to be noted that  Omar Khashaba and Mohamed Khodeir, the entrepreneurs behind Tutorama, have been resonating quite well  before their launch; they won top prizes at the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition and Seedstars.
