“Egypt Can” Convention announces its recommendations

Egyptian Scientists living abroad convened last Wednesday for a 2 day conference organised by the Ministry of Immigration in Hurghada. The “Egypt Can” Convention announced last Thursday its final recommendations as follows:

  1. Developing an extension to the current Aswan Heart Hospital into a medical city, with a high level care centre that can accommodate a larger number of patients, a research and development unit and equip the project with green solar energy.
  2. Space Scientists pledged to support the Egyptian Space Agency and its cooperation with the Egyptian New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA).
  3. Establishing the national programme to raise awareness of how to deal with disasters and crises to be circulated among all state levels, universities, schools, government and private institutions.
  4. Implementing a plan for a gradual establishment of solar thermal power plants including photovoltaic cells and thermal heating to allow its full day operation to ease the load off the national power grid.
  5. 5. Using solar energy in water desalination and agriculture that can save 40% of the irrigation water and the use of modern irrigation techniques and technologies in the million and a half-acre project.
  6. Using artificial intelligence in analysing data generated by satellites to predict satellites in orbit problems.
  7. Establishing a national body affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to adopt policies for developing young innovators and market their innovations.
  8. A concentration towards establishing SMEs in the Suez Canal and the Red Sea, using resources available, such as silica, food and pharmaceutical industries.
  9. Developing a logistics support centre for services at the Suez Canal zone.
  10. Infrastructure Protection of the Suez canal Zone and developing new types of trains with the participation of the public and private sectors.
  11. Creating a work group to develop and activate a unified strategy for governance and development of information systems within the state to provide services to citizens and to overcome the challenges facing the community.
